Structural adhesives and epoxy resins are like "steel bars" and "rubber bands" in the construction industry; the core difference lies in their composition. Structural adhesives are typically based on modified epoxy resins or polyurethane, forming a rigid bond after curing, capable of withstanding large loads. Epoxy resins, on the other hand, mostly use silicone-based materials, maintaining elastic deformation capabilities, suitable for scenarios requiring flexibility. Simply put: choose structural adhesives to bond steel beams, and epoxy resins to seal glass joints.
Key Application Scenarios
Structural adhesives' primary applications: High-strength applications such as building curtain wall frame fixing, concrete repair, and metal structure bonding.
Advantageous applications of hyaluronic acid adhesives: Joints requiring weather resistance and aging resistance, such as door and window sealing, kitchen and bathroom waterproofing, and automotive windshield installation.
Cross-application areas: Some modified hyaluronic acid adhesives can also be used for lightweight structural bonding, but their load-bearing capacity is still inferior to professional structural adhesives.
Key Selection Indicators
When purchasing, it is recommended to pay attention to three parameters:
Tensile strength: Structural adhesives typically have a tensile strength ≥10MPa, while hyaluronic acid adhesives are mostly in the range of 1-5MPa.
Elongation: Hyaluronic acid adhesives can reach over 300%, while structural adhesives are generally <50%.
Temperature resistance range: Hyaluronic acid adhesives are stable from -40℃ to 150℃, while structural adhesives have better high-temperature performance but are more brittle at low temperatures.
