The distinction between silicone sealant and structural adhesive, based on their application areas, is the most significant difference between the two. These two types of adhesives are used for completely different purposes and in different locations. Therefore, when choosing different types of adhesives for your home, you must select according to the intended use. Please refer to the following two suggestions:

①: For the installation of load-bearing components or materials, structural adhesive must be used. This mainly includes the connection of building structural parts, such as curtain wall connections, curtain wall embedded parts connections, and connections of dry-hanging structures on exterior walls. It also includes the connection of glass in exterior curtain walls, etc. All parts of these products that bear loads must use structural adhesive. Silicone sealant or ordinary weather-resistant sealant is absolutely not allowed as a substitute.

②: For areas that only require sealing and do not bear any load, any type of silicone sealant can be chosen. For example, sealing gaps during home renovations, such as the gap between the sink and the wall, or the gap between the toilet and the floor, etc., silicone sealant can be used for these sealing applications. Of course, for window installation, glass sealant can also be used to seal the glass.
