1978: Frenchman Margar brought structural adhesive (Sicaduer 31# adhesive) to China.
1980: The Ministry of Construction officially issued the research project "Research and Application Technology Promotion of Building Structural Adhesives." The Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Liaoning Building Science Research Institute jointly tackled the project, completing it in 1983. They developed China's first practical building structural adhesive-JGN type-pioneering chemical reinforcement in China and filling the gap in domestic steel-bonded reinforcement of buildings.
1990: The China Engineering Construction Standardization Association standard "Technical Specification for Strengthening Concrete Structures" (CECS25:90) officially incorporated steel-bonded reinforcement technology into the specification and listed the JGN series building structural adhesives as designated products. The Chemistry Department of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and the Science and Technology Bureau of the Ministry of Urban and Rural Environmental Protection issued a notice regarding the "Appraisal Certificate for Building Structural Adhesives and Their Application Technology."
1996: Responding to market demands, the Chinese Academy of Sciences successively developed various structural reinforcement adhesives, including those for dynamic load-bearing components, those for humid environments, those for concrete surface repair, those for high-temperature conditions, and those for injection molding.
1997: Application surveys and extensive practical experience demonstrated that chemical steel bonding reinforcement has become the dominant trend in reinforcement technology. The process is sophisticated and the technology is increasingly mature, offering advantages such as simple construction, reliable technology, low labor, material, and time costs, and space saving. It has gained increasing recognition from structural designers.
2000: Structural adhesives rapidly expanded into reinforcement projects for both new and old buildings, including concrete rebar anchoring, chemical steel bonding, chemical anchor reinforcement, carbon fiber cloth (plate) bonding, impact and abrasion resistance, crack grouting, corrosion prevention, and waterproofing. It has become an indispensable and important building reinforcement material in the construction industry.
2006: The national standard Code for Design of Strengthening Concrete Structures GB50367-2006 was implemented, which will surely have a positive effect on promoting China's socialist modernization.
