Storage Method

Silicone sealant should be stored in a cool, dry place below 30℃. High-quality acidic silicone sealant can ensure a shelf life of over 12 months, while general acidic silicone sealant can be stored for over 6 months; neutral weather-resistant and structural sealants can guarantee a shelf life of over 9 months. If the bottle has been opened, please use it within a short period. If the sealant is not used up, the bottle must be sealed. Before reuse, unscrew the nozzle and remove any blockages or replace the nozzle.

Precautions

1. The most common problem with silicone sealant is blackening and mold growth. Even using waterproof or mold-resistant silicone sealant cannot completely prevent this problem. Therefore, it is not advisable to apply it to areas with prolonged exposure to water or immersion in water.

2. Anyone familiar with silicone sealant knows that it is an organic substance and is easily soluble in organic solvents such as grease, xylene, and acetone. Therefore, silicone sealant should not be applied to substrates containing these substances.

3. Ordinary silicone sealant requires moisture from the air to cure, except for special and purpose-specific sealants (such as anaerobic sealants). Therefore, if the area to be applied is a closed space and extremely dry, ordinary silicone sealant will not be suitable.

4. The surface of the substrate to which the silicone sealant will be bonded must be clean and free of other adhering substances (such as dust). Otherwise, the sealant will not adhere well or may detach after curing.

5. Acidic silicone sealant releases irritating gases during the curing process, which can irritate the eyes and respiratory tract. Therefore, always open doors and windows after application and allow the sealant to fully cure and for the gases to dissipate before moving in.
