Step-by-Step Application Guide
1.Surface Preparation: Thoroughly clean all bonding/sealing surfaces to remove dust, dirt, oil, grease, rust, and loose particles. For porous surfaces (concrete, masonry), lightly sand and clean again. Ensure surfaces are dry (moisture content ≤ 5%) before application.
2.Backer Rod Installation (for wide joints): Insert a closed-cell backer rod into joints wider than 6mm to control sealant depth. The backer rod should be 20-30% larger than the joint width.
3.Nozzle Setup: Cut the cartridge nozzle at a 45° angle to match the joint width (suitable for joints 3mm-50mm). Attach the nozzle to the cartridge and load it into a standard caulking gun.
4.Application: Apply a continuous, uniform bead of sealant along the joint or bonding surface, pressing firmly to ensure full contact. For structural bonding, apply sealant in a zig-zag pattern to maximize coverage. Work in small sections (1-2 square meters) to avoid sealant skinning before tooling.
5.Tooling: Smooth the sealant bead with a water-moistened tool within 10-15 minutes of application to create a neat, airtight/watertight finish. Tool the bead to a width of 2-3 times the joint thickness.
6.Curing: Allow the sealant to cure undisturbed for 24-48 hours. Avoid applying load, water exposure, or structural movement during the curing period. Full structural strength is achieved after 7 days (25°C, 50% RH).
Important Notes: For structural applications, consult a professional engineer to determine the appropriate sealant dosage and joint design. Do not apply in temperatures below 5°C or above 40°C, or in direct sunlight or heavy rain. Do not use for continuous submersion in saltwater unless specified as marine grade. Keep away from children and pets. Ensure adequate ventilation during application. In case of skin contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water; for eye contact, seek medical attention.
